Read Morei used to dread doing family pictures in temecula because i felt like there weren't enough locations that were different/interesting enough. then one day bobette and i went scouting and found so many cool spots within about 10 miles of my house. cute birch trees, orange groves, peppercorn trees and some pretty fields.
Read Moreyet another one of bobette's amazing events. she kind of got thrown into being a wedding planner after everyone saw what an amazing job she did at my wedding. everyone including her hairdresser- who hired her to decorate her daughter's wedding that was held at a vineyard in wine country, temecula.
Read Morethis summer i had the chance to do my very first bridal session and first real reception (i've photographed lots of receptions before but was never the official photographer). it was so much fun and such a good learning experience. the bridal session was my favorite though. mkaul and tyler's wedding had a carnival theme, and they let me come up with ideas for the bridal shoot. those are my favorite shoots- the ones where i have total control and can choose props, locations etc. the first location for the bridals was in a soda shop in old town temecula. i loved that it had bright colors and went along with the carnival theme.
our second location may have been my favorite. i got it in my head that i wanted a carousel horse in the pictures. naturally. so my mom and i went to granny's attic in hopes that they would have one. we first found a full sized carved gold and white horse- but it was $300. i asked if i could just borrow it and the lady all but laughed in my face- worth a try though right? then my mom came upon this little white horse on a pole. the bride wouldn't be able to sit on it, but it still worked for what i was looking for. at 35 bucks it was a winner. for a location i really wanted a red and white striped circus tent. we drove around and found this little old red fire house. it was fate. this is for sure my favorite part of the shoot.
for our last location we walked around a block in old town. i had a giant balloon with fringe garland to use on the bridge, but it was way too windy so we just gave it up. i love the industrial vibe of these last ones though.

last weekend my parents celebrated their anniversary in palm springs, so jarman and i got to stay and 'babysit' my three (not-so-little) sisters. jarman ended up working almost the whole time, so we got to have a fun girl's weekend. on saturday we started out at the farmer's market in temecula. we got some pretty flowers, fresh lemonade, and a couple of the best gyros in the world.
then we did a few photo shoots of the girls, of course...
then we had a lazy afternoon watching friends and taking naps. once we felt disgusting enough from laying around, we headed to starbucks for an energy boost and came up with the genius idea to throw a party. the girls invited all their high school friends and we all pitched in to get drinks, candy and snacks. we played ping pong and the boys had a fifa tourney (jarman made it to the finals, which he was super proud of). but mostly, we danced our aces off. it was seriously so much fun, even though it was only me and my sisters and cousins who were dancing, while everyone else did other things. we loved it. oh, and jarman danced with us for a while and somehow got everyone to do high kicks? i was super sore. sometimes when you're 23 and live in temecula you have to hang out with high school kids on the weekends. it's cool.
we are obviously very good dancers. look how in sync and serious we are. we don't mess around.
