style / wedding week: thank you's!

this post is for the many people who helped with my people. i feel bad if i start naming people, because i am sure to miss someone. i mostly would like to thank my photographer, megan papworth, for doing such an amazing job! she captured my wedding so well. i hope to one day be as good of a photographer as her. i mean, have you seen cooler bridals? also, to the gilberts and the foxes who helped us every step of the way! to doug who built everything we needed! to everyone who helped us test our food and decide the menu! to my awesome mother in law for going above and beyond her duties! to all of the people who drove/flew so far in the middle of february to come to our wedding! to all of the people who helped set up, cook, grill, clean up, put on bridal showers, do the flowers, make movies! to all of our good friends who made our party worth remembering! thank you all so much! it truly was the wedding of my dreams! (and actually still is, i am still dreaming about my wedding a year and half later).

style / wedding week: bridals

Jarman_103-1.jpg

so this week i am going to share with you pictures from my wedding! i know it was a year and a half ago, but i have never gotten a chance to really share my pictures and people keep asking to see them. i am breaking it up in to categories, so each day you will see a different aspect of my wedding, mainly because it's too hard for me to narrow down what to show you.

jarman and i got married february 18th, 2012 in the san diego temple. our reception was held in my backyard, and my family and our wonderful friends pretty much put the whole thing on. we made all the food, did all the decorating, and partied as hard as we could. it was literally the funnest day of my life, and if i could i would have a wedding for every anniversary. and seriously, we couldn't have done it without all of our amazing friends and family that helped us, i think i will have to do a post just for them.

we did our bridals a few weeks before the wedding at balboa park in san diego. i had always imagined doing our pictures there, and somehow our amazing photographer made it work, even though she lives all the way in la. i love the way they turned out. those blue doors are to die for. i love the european vibe that the park gives, it looks like we could have taken these pictures in spain or italy.

i got my dress from an antique store in temecula. in high school i went to that antique store almost every weekend to shop for vintage jewels and dresses, and i was so happy to actually be buying my wedding dress from there. i never actually went dress shopping, this was pretty much the only dress i tried on and i knew i had to have it. it required quite a few alterations. i always imagined having the funny face dress made, and had my heart set on having a tea length dress. when i found this one, i couldn't part with the ruffles in the back, so i decided to compromise and have the front short but the back long. i also had the sleeves shortened, and a v made for the back neckline (which my hair pretty much covered the entire time anyway).

style / cathy's living and family room makeover

when cathy came to my mom for help in her house, she was deciding between rooster fabrics. the massive overhaul of changes are a testament to the fact that my mom helped her to get over the roosters, turn from the dark side, and choose to have great style. they started with the downstairs, and have now moved upstairs to bedrooms and offices. how great does it look? her house has been completely transformed!! i don't have before pictures, but check out these after pictures that were taken by her son jacob dunford, an excellent photographer who i hope to learn a thing or two from. {you can check out his website here}

i still can't decide what i love more, the chesterfield couches, or the color palette of green and blues with pops of pink. i loved tagging along and shopping with them, helping to choose living room furniture and couches. hopefully someday i will be able to do what my mom can in the styling department!

from my camera / andierooney's sweet sixteen

andie turns 16 today! i can't even believe it! all my babies are growing up! on friday we threw a birthday party for her. she wanted a bonfire and a movie in the backyard. we threw this together really quickly, and it was actually super easy. for the backyard decorations we put up lights, set up the fire pit, and created little seating areas. we pretty much brought out any extra pillow or blanket we had in the house. we covered our ugly lawn chairs with sheets, and made beds on the long ones. we brought out little end tables for the kids to put their treats on, and stools for them to rest their feet on. oh, and luckily the chevron stripes from my wedding were still out there after a year-and-a-half, even though the paint was supposed to wash away with the rain. they make the backyard so much cuter!

andie is probably the funniest person i know and i am so glad i get to spend almost every birthday with her. she always has the best stories and questions and never stops talking. she definitely wins the best hair award in our family, although it is a ratsnest most of the time. seriously, my life would be so much more boring without her. and she and jarman are best friends, which is also a major plus. they are seriously hilarious together even though i usually hate to admit it. happy birthday baby girl! love you!

from my camera / my house

luckily i took these pictures of my bedroom in January, because i wasn't able to get many other pictures of our first house before we started packing. we move on saturday! which basically means that my house has been torn to pieces and is driving me crazy! i have been avoiding packing like the plague, and even got the plague while avoiding it (or food poisoning, same thing). jarman has done most of the work and it has been awesome, minus feeling awful for a few days.

this house has been good to us and i will always remember it fondly, but i don't know if i will miss it in an i-wish-we-could-move-back-there kind of way. it was built in the 1940's and i don't think it has been updated since. it has its cute little quirks (like the doorbell that is literally two large chimes)  and its pitfalls (like the creaky floors and ancient windows). i will always love it as our first house that we spent our first year and a half in. for the next year we will be wanderers, living in washington d.c. and then temecula, but will settle in to law school after that.

most of the stuff in our bedroom was either gifted or used at my wedding. my mom put together a group gift for my bridal shower, and bought us pretty much everything we needed for our bedroom: the curtains, bedding, painting, and a few other things that are elsewhere in the house. that was seriously the best. (i should write about how cute my bridal shower was, even though it was so long ago.) the mirrored side table was used as my cake stand, and the dresser as my dessert bar at my wedding.

i know these pictures aren't the greatest, but they will always remind me of our cute little brick house.
